This Vegan Burger Recipe Is So “Meaty” and Delicious!

Awesome vegan chickpea burgers on today’s #LunchBreakLIVE. This incredible vegan burger recipe is made by Mario Fabbri, a plant-based chef and host of many cooking shows, including Trying Vegan with Mario and New Day New Chef on Amazon’s Prime Video and PBS.  Let’s learn how to make this tasty homemade vegan burger…

Who Is This Creative and Delightful Chef?

Mario Fabbri is a cooking show host. He began his TV career on the top shopping network, QVC. Today Mario hosts the cooking show Trying Vegan with Mario, where he invites world-renowned health-food chefs to teach their best vegan recipes.

Mario grew up in Chicago working at his dad’s Italian Sausage factory where he anticipated one day taking it over for his father. At 19 years old, Mario harnessed his love for food and entrepreneurship to start a videography company that produces cooking shows. After a few years of creating content from behind the camera, Mario got his first big break in front of the camera doing an infomercial on QVC. It was a huge success and created the opportunity for Mario to start his own cooking show. At the time, Mario was learning about the benefits of vegan food and decided to create a show about being a non-vegan on a mission to find the best vegan recipes.

Trying Vegan with Mario first aired on cable in New York City in the Spring of 2019. Guests on Trying Vegan thus far include platinum recording artists Krewella, vegan reporter Jane Velez-Mitchell, Eat to Live author Dr. Joel Fuhrman, world-renowned vegan chef Gaz Oakley, and more. It’s Mario’s mission to share the best vegan recipes with you. You can download the Trying Vegan with Mario channel on Roku, Amazon Firestick, and most streaming devices.

Now Back To This Delicious Vegan Burger Recipe!

I love a good vegan burger recipe, don’t you?  Burgers are an all American go-to meal, so you can never have too many vegan burger recipes on hand!  This is a super healthy recipe, that certainly doesn’t lack in taste.  The patty is made from chickpeas, oats, and more delicious healthy ingredients.  Totally healthier than your average processed vegan burger.  Not that I don’t eat those too…I love a Beyond Meat Burger or Impossible Burger on occasion.  But nothing beats a good homemade burger…nothing!  Let’s see how Mario’s turned out, and what kind of fixin’s he packs on his burger.

Vegan Burger Recipe: Chickpea Burger

Course Main Courses
Cuisine American

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 c shitake mushrooms diced
  • 1/4 c red onion diced
  • 1 tbsp ground flax meal
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp fennel
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • 1.) Preheat air fryer (or oven) to 350 degrees F.
  • 2.) Create the "flax egg". Mix the 1 tbsp of ground flax with the 3 tbsp of water. Put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. The flax and water will combine together to make a sticky substance.
  • 3.) Place chickpeas in a bowl and mash with a fork.
  • 4.) Add all of the other ingredients to the bowl and mix well. Add in the flax egg and keep combining.
  • 5.) Form into 6 patties. Bake for 10 minutes on 350F, flip burgers and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Top with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and whatever else you enjoy!
