Let’s talk about dairy, and how you are using it as a crutch. It’s addictive, like any other drug. That is a scientific fact. As with any addiction, you can beat it. And frankly, it’s not that difficult because the world is filled with so many delicious dairy alternatives. And today our host proves to us how easy it is. She is filled with pertinent information about why it is important to #DitchDairy and switch to plant-based alternatives. And she shows us all of her favorite dairy replacements!
So before we dive in, let’s meet our host who graciously let us into her kitchen and showed us the way to beat dairy!
Tonia is a hairstylist and indie filmmaker from Michigan who has been doing vegan activism since 2018. She is grateful to represent the Midwest on the JaneUnchained News Network. And we love having her! Tonia has a YouTube channel called Your Vegan Friend Tonia that you should definitely check out. It is fresh and fun and filled with lots of delicious recipes, and other great videos about veganism and the vegan lifestyle. From recipes to interviews, and visits to animal sanctuaries, you can find it all on Tonia’s YouTube channel.
Today Tonia is taking us deep into her kitchen, showing us all her dairy alternatives, while discussing the reasons why we should all #DitchDairy! This is a great video for all you vegan-curious people or new vegans who are just starting their journey. Most vegans have experienced the withdrawal from dairy at the start of our transition…specifically from cheese. It is a common excuse for people to use to not go vegan. We have all heard it…”But I can’t live without cheese.” Well, guess what…you don’t have to! There are so many incredible vegan cheeses available these days and they are so delicious you won’t even know the difference. In the video, Tonia also shares many resources that can help us learn more about the dangers of dairy as well. She mentions a great book by Dr. Neal Barnard called The Cheese Trap: How Breaking a Surprising Addiction Will Help You Lose Weight, Gain Energy, and Get Healthy. I highly recommend grabbing that book. It is full of all the info you need to understand your dairy addiction, and how to change it.
On a personal note, when I went vegan nearly 9 years ago, I did miss cheese at first. But it wasn’t long before I discovered plant-based cheeses that satisfied my cravings. But now, in 2020, there are a TON of options that are so amazing in taste. I mean there really is no excuse. And there are also so many variations of plant-milks, yogurts, creams, butter, etc. You can even have vegan eggs nowadays! It’s so easy!
Let’s check out the video where Tonia shows us all her favorite dairy alternatives and shares some great info and resources for all you newbies out there. This is a video you do not want to miss.
