Put On Your Fancy Pants and Head To Fancy Plants Cafe!

#LunchBreakLIVE in CHICAGO with Chef Kevin Schuder at Fancy Plants Cafe! Eco-vegan author The Little Foxes (Ashlee Piper!) and correspondent Elysabeth Alfano Of Awesome Vegans with Elysabeth Alfano Podcast/Vlog dig in for the yummy goods!
This masterpiece make with sunchokes may be the fanciest vegetable dish we’ve ever seen!

Kevin has been vegan chef for eleven years! He says he is still learning because he is the “new kid on the block in Chicago.” He has only lived there for about two years. Chef Kevin’s specialty is vegan catering and he has catered several events and vegan weddings. He has a personal cookbook that he uses to cook at Fancy Plants Cafe, and maybe one day he may publish it when he has a larger restaurant.
Chef Kevin Schuder is a real gourmet vegan chef!

Ashlee shares her book with us titled, Give A Shit, which covers how to live more sustainably in everyday life. It addresses how you dress, eat, travel, use grooming products, and more! She also touches on single-use plastics and how they harm our environment. Elysabeth recommends her book because it is very user-friendly. Ashlee also drives home the point that eating animal products is not sustainable period. She explains feeding all of these animals raised for food grain reduces the worlds food supply and is terribly wasteful. Pick up a copy of Ashlee’s book and start living a more sustainable life today!

Elysabeth poses with Chef Kevin Schuder as they show off their version of vegan lox on a bagel. Yum!

Elysabeth starts off at the cafe with a peek at all the dessert offerings! Ashlee Piper decided to start off her visit with the last oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Elysabeth joins her and they enjoy macarons and Polish pastries called paczkis as well. Ashlee explains that paczkis are usually fried in animal fat but is just as decadent here without the need for using animal products! Elysabeth and Ashlee also enjoy the cafe’s vegan breakfast sandwich with the Just Egg patty and vegan Chao brand cheese. It’s absolutely perfect for an on-the-go quick bite! Chef Kevin is full of surprises and he reappears with grilled sunchokes with rosemary oil, cashew foam, smoked apples, basil, and lemon. Lastly, Elysabeth and Ashlee try a cauliflower fondue. Fancy Plants Cafe is truly fancy and a must try stop if you are in the Chicago area!
