#JaneUnchained was at Ellora Wellness mini veg fest with Patrik Baboumian, German Strongman who holds the world record for Yoke Walk. Watch the trailer of Patrik in the movie The Game Changers at https://www.facebook.com/gamechangersmovie. Sean Hill was the event emcee and the talk was moderated by Will Tucker of Will Tucker Fitness.
Patrik Baboumian speaks about his life growing up in Germany, becoming a body builder, power lifter, strongman and why he chose to give up meat, then diary, and finally going vegan and setting world records!
In his speech, he also addresses the concerns about veganism and how it has helped him with his digestive issues and athletic performance. He had three main concerns and takeaways transitioning from a vegetarian to a vegan:
- Acid Reflux. Patrik has been struggling with acid his whole life. Dairy was the major cause of the acid. Dairy also causes autoimmune problems. Once he cut diary from his diet, he was immediately cured of his acid within two days! He has helped his mother cut dairy from her diet as well and she no longer has acid issues and has become vegan as a result of great health.
- Addiction to dairy. Patrik discusses how he kicked his addiction to dairy within two weeks! He speaks about the endorphins and how casomorphin protein causes this addiction. It is possible to kick this addiction with vegan alternatives and his cravings were gone. He is also an ethical vegan and cares about the animals.
- Athletic performance. Dairy also causes inflammation and joint pain. The recovery time for an athlete is much faster without meat and dairy. He also had a chronic iron deficiency as a vegetarian and he realized the dairy intake blocked the absorption of iron. He is no longer iron deficient as a vegan! His performance has accelerated and he is physically feeling better. Being vegan makes you a better athlete.
He found a way to make it work. He has done his research and homework regarding the health benefits of veganism and he has cured not only his health problems, but has gone to setting world records as a vegan!
Patrik also addresses that what’s holding the vegan movement back is young men. His main focus is to reach out to men and debunk the myth of veganism, proving it’s better for performance and health. The trailer of the movie Game Changers has already changed the minds of men who are now interested about the vegan lifestyle.
