Patrik Baboumian, Ellora Wellness, Oil-Free Blueberry Crumble, Beyond Burgers, and Pole Dancing!

 

What more could you ask for?? #LunchBreakLIVE  with the team from Ellora Wellness , a Vegan Organic Wellness Center for all things healthy. Joining them is Patrik Baboumian, the WORLD’S STRONGEST VEGAN, to prepare healthy vegan treats. Patrik is the headlining speaker at the Ellora Wellness inaugural monthly vegfest this Saturday in Pasadena, California. Tune in as the Ellora Wellness team, which includes creator Vanessa Marsot, partner George McQuade, and DJ VEG Zorair, mix up some deliciousness in the kitchen. Find out how to make a totally oil-free blueberry crumble, and stick around to check out the Beyond Burger cheeseburger topped with Follow Your Heart cheddar cheese straight from the grill!

At Ellora Wellness they avoid the use of oil, sugar and processed foods. But that’s not all, they are also avoid using plastic packaging because often times there are many chemicals and animal additives that are processed in plastics.  Plastics are also awful for the environment, which everyone should know. Please avoid using plastic whenever possible!

And if you were wondering how Vanessa stays in such good shape… She pole dances! She also competes and performs. You can catch her at a pole competition on August 11th and a pole show on the August 25th with Choreography House where she trains with Kelly King. Vanessa is the featured dancer at the pole show!

A special tip from JNN and Lunch BreakLIVE contributor Lisa Karlan, when cooking oil-free, is to use parchment paper instead of greasing a pan. Thanks Lisa! And don’t forget monk fruit makes for a great processed sugar substitute. Vanessa explains if you can avoid sugar, oil, and salt, you can reduce bloating, and it can be helpful for many health issues.

Patrik Baboumian, the WORLD’S STRONGEST VEGAN, explains how he got his title. We love that he is a living demonstration of not having to eat meat or animal products in order to be strong and manly. Yes you heard it here! You can be strong and healthy without eating animals! So check him using his big vegan muscles to grate a little piece of nutmeg! And please educate others who have the misconception of how muscle is built. Plant have all the protein you need and it’s better for all of us! Patrick also has lots of exciting film projects in the works, so stay tuned for those! You can also meet him this Sunday at the Go Vegan Café from 1-5 pm in Las Vegas.

As Vanessa explains, she only buys from all vegan companies. She says by using our buying power to support vegan business we will push out all the carnist companies. Paige Parsons Roache Reporting for Lunch BreakLIVE

Oil-Free Berry Crumble (large casserole dish)
Berry mix:
6 c. fresh berries or 24-32 oz frozen berries
4 TB lemon juice
4 Tb. sugar (I use coconut sugar, date sugar, or monkfruit sugar, as they have lower glycemic indices)
Crumble topping
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (include other spices as desired: cloves, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, vanilla extract)
1 1/3 cup sugar
1 cup whole wheat flour (I substitute 1/4 cup of coconut flour for 1 cup of wheat flour)
2 cups of quick cooking oats
2/3 cup of applesauce (or use same amount of vegan butter)
1/2 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a casserole dish with coconut oil or parchment paper lining to prevent sticking, if doing oil-free. Place berries in dish, add 4 Tb sugar and lemon juice. Mix together.
Combine topping ingredients, and mix with a fork until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle the mixture over the berries and bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

DJ VEG’S BEYOND MEAT BURGER RECIPE: Makes 2 Burgers
Ingredients:
Beyond Meat Burger Patties
2 Jalapeños
Follow Your Heart Chipotle Vegenaise
Follow Your Heart Cheddar Cheese slices
Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar
Arugula
1 small onion
1 large Heirloom tomato
1 large Avocado
Whole wheat burger buns
Slice the onions and drizzle Bragg’s Amino Acid on the grill. Sauté the onions in the Bragg’s until caramelized. Grill the burgers on the grill surface. Slice up the tomato, avocado and jalapeños. Warm the bun with cheese on it over the grill. Spread the Vegenaise, layer all the other items, placing the burger atop. Add pickles optionally. Dig in!
